The 13th Chamber Golf Day took place at Cherwell Edge Golf Course on Thursday 21st April with teams playing a game of Texas Scramble over 18 holes.
The teams this year were Wellers Wonders, Castle Quay, Brown & Co, BRI International Rescue, Family Connections, HSBC, Misfits, Gin & Golf, Spratt Endicott and Herbert & Webster. The weather was dry with the odd appearance from the sun over the course of the day. The teams were competing for the prestigious Wellers Cup. Additional prizes were also on offer for Nearest the pin and Longest drive.
Hole 16 was the Charity hole where the golfers first drive had to try and land on the Green. Michelle Lewis did a sterling job of policing the hole and managing to persuade all golfers to hand over their donation! At £5.00 a shot, £235.00 was raised to be shared equally between the three Chamber member charities, Age Concern UK, BYHP and Dogs for Good.
Cherwell Edge Golf Club provided the returning golfers with a fantastic 3 meat carvery and delicious berry cheesecake prior to the winners being announced.
Simon Smith from Wellers took to the floor to announce the winners. Nearest the pin was won by Kyle Wyness of Spratt Endicott and the longest drive was won by Simon Green from AutoGate Systems both receiving a bottle of Jacobs Creek Sparkling Wine.
The top 3 teams all received a bottle of wine each. In third place were Autogate Systems (previously known as VSG) with 56.1 net. In second place with 55.8 net were Castle Quay and the winners with a score of 55.6 net were Brown & Co. Winning Captain, Malcolm Nutt said “ We are grateful to the golf club and Michelle at the Chamber for organising the day, which seemed to be enjoyed by all who played. The scores are a bit lower than usual, but shows a good standard from all competitors. The Brown & Co team are delighted to be winners and will be back next year to defend the trophy”
