14 teams attended the 15th Annual Golf Day run by Banbury Chamber at Cherwell Edge Golf Club on 19th April. We were blessed with a wonderful sunny and warm day which was enjoyed by all. The course was in good condition and we thank all the staff at Cherwell Edge Golf Club for their work and effort for the day including the very good food which was provided to us at the end of the round.
As usual there were some scores which are probably not best mentioned but others which were phenomenal. The event was won by the team from Bower & Bailey and Fisher German who went round in an incredible 10 under par gross 60 shots and with their handicap difference they came to a net 52.2. We think this is the lowest score ever recorded in this competition. In second place were the Grundon Team with a net 54.2 and third was the HSBC Team with 54.8. The prizes for the nearest pin on the 4th hole and longest drive were won by David Saunders of Ellacotts and Steve Beck of Wellers respectively.
We are grateful to all competitors for joining in on the charity hole event at the 16th and we are pleased to confirm that £275 was raised for the Katharine House Hospice Charity on the day. We will be presenting that cheque to them in the very near future. We are also grateful to all the 6 sponsors for the events, being Spratt Endicott Solicitors, Whitley Stimpson Accountants, Wellers Accountants, John Nicolls, Magenta Storage and Brown & Co Surveyors.
We are delighted to confirm that the 16th annual golf day for the chamber has already been booked and put a note in your diary so that this is on Thursday 11th April 2019 with the venue being Cherwell Edge Golf Club again.
