Company Spotlight – Ellacotts

This month’s ‘company spotlight’ is Ellacotts. Charlotte Oakley, Senior Marketing Executive answers a few questions:-

1.     How long has Ellacotts been members of the Chamber?

We joined the Banbury Chamber of Commerce in 1993

2.     What are the major benefits for your company being members of the Chamber?

As a business in Banbury, it is a huge benefit to have so many professional networking opportunities with other local businesses. We have developed a number of key contacts through the Chamber that have proven extremely valuable to the firm. The Chamber is also a great source of information regarding community projects which is useful for us to discuss with local clients and contacts.

3.     Brief background of the company

Ellacotts is a specialist firm of Chartered Accountants and Business Advisors and has been going for over 50 years. It was founded in 1960 operating solely within Banbury and today it has a thriving second office in Northamptonshire and office facilities in London!  Over the years Ellacotts has developed specialisms in a number of sectors including agriculture, leisure, tourism, property and construction, healthcare and academies.

4.     Within the company what is your role?

Senior Marketing Executive

5.     What are the main things going on in your company at the moment?

There’s so much happening at Ellacotts at the moment, it’s hard to think of just a few things. We launched Ellacotts Wealth Planning Ltd not long ago and this is going really well. It’s a service offering clients an integrated solution to private wealth planning, advising on everything from savings and investments to pensions, retirement and wills.

Auto enrolment is still a hot topic; anyone with employees is going to be affected and those who aren’t compliant with HMRC’s regulations could face some severe penalties.

We are also capitalising on our international specialism, acquiring clients from all over the world; from those looking to expand overseas as well as those looking to set up in the UK.

Oh – and about 30 of us (staff, their friends and family) took part in a Wolf Run recently, raising nearly £6k for our charity of the year, The Katharine House Hospice!

6.     Do you think the business environment in Banbury is thriving?

It seems like a lot of businesses have been keeping their heads down over the past few years just trying to stay afloat but now there seems to be so much happening! There are lots of proposed developments to improve the town centre so I am excited to see how these pan out. Having visited a number of towns in recent years, Banbury is positively bustling by comparison!
