Free Apprenticeship information session for Banbury businesses

We’re holding a free ‘Making Sense of Apprenticeships’ event for employers in partnership with Oxfordshire Apprenticeships on 17th September from 9:30-11:30am at The Colin Sanders Innovation Centre in Banbury.

This will be an informal Q&A session, giving local employers the chance to find out everything they need to know to get started with employing their first Apprentice. They’ll be able to find out all about the process from a panel of experts, including employers and Apprentices already involved in the scheme.

With the new government pledging 3 million new Apprenticeships across the next five years and also announcing plans to introduce an Apprenticeship ‘levy’ for larger employers, this is an important time for local businesses to understand how the scheme can impact on their business.

Clive Shepherd, Apprenticeship Manager at the University of Oxford, attended a previous Making Sense of Apprenticeships event. Clive says: “The session really opened my eyes to the huge range of possibilities that Apprenticeships can bring. The support that is available for business of all sizes is fantastic and employing an Apprentice couldn’t be easier. Sure, it’s a fantastic opportunity for a young Apprentice but I hadn’t realised just how much benefit there was for the business, large or small, as well.”

Clive wanted to share his experience with other employers and so joined the panel in our most recent event at Oxford Town Hall, along with Emily, a Business Admin Apprentice at the University (pictured below).

Sarah Cullimore of Oxfordshire Apprenticeships says: “We’re really pleased to be running another Making Sense of Apprenticeships event in Banbury, in partnership with the Chamber. With considerable infrastructure growth planned for Banbury, Bicester and across North Oxfordshire, affecting sectors like construction, retail and engineering, the need for quality Apprenticeships will be greater than ever. So it is really important that we continue to help businesses make sense of how it all works.”

The session takes place on Thursday 17th September from 9:30-11:30am at the Colin Sanders Innovation Centre on Mewburn Road in Banbury. To find out more and book a place, visit: http://makingsensebanburysept15.eventbrite.co.uk.
