We have been informed by the British Chamber of Commerce (BCC) that the Qatari customs authorities are not accepting electronic certificates of origin and requesting that documents are also legalised. They have suggested that a 1% penalty charge will be imposed for shipments that do not comply.
We would highly recommend that you issue a manual certificate of origin and check with your customers in advance as to whether legalisation of your documents is required.
The BCC has raised the matter with the Department for International Trade (DIT) who are making representations to the Qatari customs authorities.
