Victoria Prentis MP welcomed a group of 15 members of the Banbury Chamber of Commerce to the Houses of Parliament this week to see the process of democracy being exercised first hand. As well as an excellent tour of the opulent Palace of Westminster, learning some of the history of the nation’s seat of government along with an explanation of some of the processes and conventions which are observed, Banbury Chamber members also witnessed the Speaker in procession and the Lords posing questions to the government. The Lords were much amused when, on the subject of the former foreign secretary, Lord Young of Cookham quipped that he was not an apologist for Boris Johnson as he did not possess the range of skills required! Chamber members’ attendance fee will be donated to The Royal Voluntary Service. The Chamber has further exciting tours and trips including Hook Norton Brewery, Aston Martin and Prodrive.
